St. Joseph Catholic Academy senior Zack Koenes has been selected to play defensive line for Divisions (4-7) South 2012 Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Senior All-Star Football Game.  This is the first time a St. Joe’s student has been selected for this honor since 2004.  The all star game will be played on July 14th at Noon at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The WFCA is raising money for the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.  Each player is asked to raise $500.  If you would like to support Zack and Children’s Hospital through this event, please go to
http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/SJCA/2012-wfca-all-star-charity-football-game/event to make an online donation.  Your support will be greatly appreciated and any donation over the amount of $25 will be recognized in the game program.  This is a great opportunity for Zack and the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War has sponsored a memorial service in Calvary Cemetery in Milwaukee.  The purpose of this letter is to elicit your support for our outdoor Mass and patriotic ceremony in Calvary Cemetery at 5503 W. Bluemound Road on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the foot of 'Jesuit Hill'.  In case of inclement weather, the Mass will be celebrated inside the former Holy Cross church (now St. Vincent Pallotti-East) across Bluemound Road from the cemetery.

HERE SHE IS.... St. JOE'S VERY OWN MISS AMERICA!!

With tremendous pride, SJCA offers our congratulations to Laura Kaeppeler, St. Joseph High School Class of 2006, on winning the title of Miss America!  Laura, who was crowned Miss Wisconsin in June, competed in the Miss America pageant in Las Vegas on January 14 and captured the crown.  She is the first Miss Wisconsin to win the national crown since 1973.
In the talent competition, she wowed the audience with her operatic voice in a phenomenal performance of Luigi Arditi's classical aria, Il Bacio. After graduating from St. Joe's, Laura matriculated to Carthage College where she graduated from in 2010 with a degree in vocal performance.

Her platform, Circles of Support, is a mentoring program for children of incarcerated parents which comes from her personal experience as the child of an incarcerated parent. She founded Circles of Support, a mentoring program for children of incarcerated parents. For information on Circles of Support, please visit her website at www.laurakaeppeler.com.

As the new Miss America, Laura will spend the next year touring the country to speak to groups and raising money for the Children's Miracle Network, the Miss America Organization's official charity.

Congratulations to the entire Kaeppeler family from your St. Joe's family.
